What makes a good website
When thinking of getting a website designed and you're not too sure what a good website is?
Here's just a few tips how to spot a good website:
- A good website should be functional and have easy and straight-forward navigation so that visitors don't get lost or confused
- Should load fast, as not everyone is patient enough to wait until it downloads fully
- Is friendly, interesting, attractive and has good and easy to read design
- Should work properly in major browsers: Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, Opera etc.
- Should have credible, interesting and valuable content and shared links with similar good websites
- Should be standards compliant to W3C for example
- Should be easily found on search engines: Google, Yahoo & Bing
- Should be updated on a regular basis (most websites), so that visitors feel that the information is always up to date
- Should be interactive, so that visitors can interact with the website (for example they can rate products, express their opinion, comment, send information via contact forms etc)
- If the website is complex it should have a search facility so that visitors can easily find information they are looking for
